Fileloom

Document generation looks trivial in a planning meeting and consumes a fortnight once someone starts. Rendering reliable PDFs means fonts, pagination, page breaks in the wrong place, and headless browsers that behave differently in production than on a laptop — and every team building an invoicing feature or a contract generator solves it again from scratch.

Fileloom is that capability as an API. Send HTML or a Handlebars template and get a print-perfect PDF back in under two seconds, with full CSS and JavaScript, custom fonts, any page size, and headers and footers. Templates are authored once with live preview and version control, webhooks are signed and retried, and files can be routed to your own storage or served as signed URLs.

It exists because the problem is general rather than specific to any one project: variations of the same document pipeline get rebuilt again and again, each one solving page breaks, font embedding and headers from scratch. Building document generation as a service rather than as a feature also changes the engineering — logging, error handling and what counts as “done” all look different when the pipeline has to stay up for somebody else.
