Website Design and Development

A website is a credibility test

Before anyone contacts you, they look you up. What they find in those ten seconds decides whether the conversation happens at all.

So we treat the website as a piece of design, not a page assembly job. That means art direction, a typographic system, a considered use of space, and restraint about motion. It also means the whole thing has to load fast enough that none of that craft is wasted on someone who left before it painted.

Built for search, structurally

Most sites lose search traffic to architecture, not to content. Pages that should be separate get collapsed into one. Pages that should be one get split across five. Nothing links to anything.

We start with the information architecture: what deserves its own URL, what the internal linking looks like, and which pages are meant to earn traffic. Then we build:

  • Semantic HTML with a correct heading outline on every page
  • Structured data connecting your organisation, services, work, and articles into one graph
  • Canonical URLs, an automatic sitemap, and a robots policy that matches your intent
  • Metadata and social cards generated from the content, so they cannot go stale

Fast by construction

We build static HTML and ship close to zero JavaScript by default. Fonts are self-hosted and subset. Images are resized and served in modern formats at build time. The result is a site that scores well on Core Web Vitals because of how it was built, not because someone tuned it afterwards.

Accessible as a baseline

Contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, focus states, reduced-motion support, and real alternative text. Not an audit at the end, a constraint from the first design file.

Questions, answered.

How is this different from a template or a page builder?

A template gets you a site that looks like every other site using that template, and page builders tend to ship a great deal of JavaScript you did not ask for, which shows up directly in your Core Web Vitals. We design from your brand and build static HTML, so the site is both distinctive and genuinely fast.

Will I be able to update the content myself?

Yes. We set up a content management system matched to how your team actually works, and we train whoever will be using it. If nobody on your side wants to touch a CMS, we can keep content in the repository and handle updates on a retainer.

Do you handle SEO, or just build the site?

We handle technical SEO as part of the build: site architecture, structured data, metadata, internal linking, page speed, and indexability. Content strategy and ongoing link building are separate engagements, and we are happy to work alongside whoever does yours.

How long does a website take?

A focused marketing site runs six to ten weeks from kickoff to launch, including design. Larger sites with a case study library, a blog, and multiple language versions run three to four months.

Can you redesign our existing site without losing our search rankings?

Yes, and this is worth doing carefully. We map every existing URL, preserve the ones that carry traffic, set up permanent redirects for the ones that change, and monitor the index for several weeks after launch to catch anything that slipped.
